There is a risk of cardiovascular disease among residents in this community (adults aged 20 - 54 make up 53.9% of the population). These risks are related to lack of knowledge/concern regarding risk factors for cardiovascular diseases as evidenced by assessment interviews and a high percentage of US adults with cardiovascular disease as identified by the American Heart Association.
